My final score is 5/10, not bad, not good, but, it was alright in terms of the fighting genre.

I'm just glad I rented it, and it's not stuck in my case forever. If you enjoy Street Fighter-style battling and like the Dragon Ball series, pick this game up somewhere. Well, that's enough of my rambling, but I'll say this. It's only Final Form, this game did have the forms, but again.as assists. I've noticed a common thing with recent Dragon Ball games, that being that Frieza's forms.aren't playable. Every good character was thrown in as an assist, which.sucked. Only to find out he has the same strength as Kid Buu. Back to the same amount of health topic, after finally unlocking Super Saiyan God Goku, I was so excited. I would've LOVED to fight Great Ape Vegeta in this style, but nope, just a dumb cutscene. And the storylines.oh, the storylines.not even fully fleshed out. Other games actually had characters with different health amounts (like the Budokai Tenkaichi series), so, why couldn't this one? Plus, what's the point of a DBZ game if you have barely any characters. You had to get your butt kicked almost fully to even use your most powerful attack, and even then, every character had the SAME AMOUNT OF HEALTH. But.I can't say this enough, the game was flawed. It did keep the fighting style of the Dragon Ball games, along with an old arcade game sort of view, and the alternate storylines (ESPECIALLY the one where Krillin's the main character) did give me quite a laugh. I'm gonna have to be brutally honest, this game sucked. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.ĭragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden. It is still fun enough, though, and can provide some quick entertainment for anyone looking for it. You won't miss much if you skip this entry. If Metacritic allowed it I would give this game a 6.5, but since that isn't an option, and you always round up in math, it gets a 7. It's understandable that the 3DS couldn't handle every last DBZ character, and I think including everyone is overkill anyways, but there are a lot of missing fan favorites they easily could have put in but didn't.

The most glaring, and often mentioned, flaw with the game is the shallow roster. It doesn't really add anything seriously new to the Dragon Ball Z fighting game franchise, either, other than the Z Assists. Especially in today's age where you can play Mortal Kombat with a friend in Vietnam (a "Cable Guy" reference, for those that didn't get that one).

It's a shame that Nintendo titles like this often neglect online play. That being said, there are a lot of flaws that kind of ruin it. It's a fighting game that's simple to pick up for any player that is not used to fighting games, but is still challenging enough to make mastering it difficult. The inclusion of Z Assist characters is a pretty cool addition as well, and it does add interesting game play mechanics. The 3D affect doesn't add too much, but the presentation is still marvelous. The game play is fast and smooth, and the visuals are simply gorgeous. The game play is fast and smooth, and the visuals are simply This game is easily, 100%, no doubt, completely.okay.
